The railway media continues to give the GWR great coverage and the arrival for the 25th Anniversary Cotswold Festival of Steam, of Hall class 4-6-0 no. 5972 Olton Hall appearing as it Harry Potter film star Hogwarts Castle, was no exception.

The GWR has seen record train loadings so in its 25th year of operation, with the total number of tickets sold reaching 21,637: the highest number ever recorded over the same period.

Visitors parking in the field next to Toddington station for the visit of Olton Hall – masquerading as ‘Hogwarts Castle’ – during the Cotswold Festival of Steam and the following few days, raised well over £5,000 for local charities.

A distinguished party of visitors from a West German railway town took a ride from Toddington to Cheltenham and back to Winchcombe recently, as part of a civic delegation visiting the railway town of Swindon.
