If you are reading this and are either expecting to spend a spell in hospital over the next week, or you have friends or relatives who are patients at Gloucester Royal or Cheltenham General, then suggest they tune in to Cotswold Hospital Radio on Monday 2nd March for 7pm when there will be an hour-long programme hosted by Allan Durant called ‘Up the Junction’.

25 years ago today (24th February) arguably marks the end of the beginning of the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway we now enjoy.
Landslip work on schedule for March train services to start

Repair of the landslip which halted trains south of Gotherington before Christmas, is on schedule to be completed in time for normal services to resume in March.
Change of plan for locomotive 6960 Raveningham Hall

The components of Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway (GWR) long-term resident locomotive, Modified Hall class 4-6-0 no. 6960 Raveningham Hall, are moving to the West Somerset Railway Association’s Williton workshops to be reassembled and returned to steam.
Under 25s travel free in March

To help the GWR celebrate the 25 years since it ran its first train in preservation, the railway is inviting anyone aged 25 to travel free provided they are accompanied by someone paying for a ticket.
A good year for the GWR

Although in many ways 2008 has been a depressing year with both the weather and the economic situation contriving to discourage families from getting out and about, to say nothing of the landslip at Cheltenham, the GWR has fared extremely well.

Well, 2009 marks the 25th anniversary of the first train operated by the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway at Toddington.
Heavy snow: no trains (but the work goes on)

Heavy snowfalls disrupted much of Britain’s railway network and on the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway, no trains ran. But that’s because it is the ‘close season’ when the line is closed for winter maintenance.
