Timetable

article by: webmaster

The GWR175 timetable is now available to download as a PDF file. Different locomotives are allocated each day and the timetable should be read in conjunction with the locomotive allocation matrix below.  The timetable shows that most trains have two locomotives at the head of each column. The first of these is the engine that starts the train at Toddington (unless otherwise noted) to Winchcombe. The second engine is attached at Winchcombe to the rear of the train for the journey to Gotherington where, becasue of the  landslip which has occured beneath the run-round loop, trains must be run 'top and tail'. The second locomotive then heads the train back to Toddington, the other locomotive is detatched at Winchcombe.

For example a column headed A/B means: Loco A starts train at Toddington, Loco B added at Winchcombe.  Loco B draws the train back from Gotherington and Loco A is detached at Winchcombe.  Loco B continutes to Toddington with the train. And so on...  Winchcombe would be a good place to watch the trains - not only is there a beer tent, but engines laying over between trains will offer opportunities for footplate visits while at the station!
